Federal-era 1814 mansion turned luxury inn near Kennebunkport's Dock Square, with antique-filled rooms, gas fireplaces, and a long-standing reputation for romantic getaways.
The Captain Lord Mansion is a Federal-style 1814 sea captain's home set on a quiet rise above Kennebunkport's harbor, a short walk from Dock Square. Long regarded as one of New England's premier romantic inns, it offers individually decorated rooms filled with antiques, many with gas fireplaces, four-poster beds, and heated bathroom floors. The grand hilltop house is topped by a distinctive octagonal cupola, and the grounds and gardens reinforce the sense of a preserved 19th-century estate. A multi-course breakfast and afternoon refreshments are served in keeping with its traditional innkeeping style. It remains independently owned and operated.
