The largest botanical garden in New England — 295 acres of ornamental gardens, trails, and waterfront in Boothbay, plus the Gardens Aglow holiday light display.
Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens opened on June 13, 2007 after sixteen years of planning by a grassroots group of Maine residents. Today its 295 acres make it the largest botanical garden in New England, drawing roughly 200,000 visitors a year to a campus of ornamental gardens, the Bibby and Harold Alfond Children's Garden, the Lerner Garden of the Five Senses, waterfront and woodland trails, the LEED Platinum Bosarge Family Education Center, and an artist-built collection of giant trolls hidden through the wooded areas. The Kitchen Garden Café sources from the on-site Burpee Kitchen Garden. From mid-November through December the gardens host Gardens Aglow, New England's largest holiday light display.
