Cross Jewelers has been family-owned since 1908 in Portland's Arts District — world's largest fine Maine tourmaline collection, plus diamonds and Maine Coast jewelry.
Cross Jewelers is one of Maine's most distinctive jewelry stores, family-owned and operating in Portland's Arts District since 1908. Founder William Cross opened the workshop after training as a master jeweler with Greenleaf & Crosby in Jacksonville, and the company has remained in family hands for four generations. The store holds the world's largest collection of fine Maine tourmaline — verdant greens, vivid pinks, the occasional teal, and the rare watermelon crystal — sourced through partnerships with miners in the "Crescent of Gems" 25–75 miles north of Portland. Beyond Maine gems, the focus is diamonds, blue sapphires, and a signature line of jewelry inspired by Maine's islands, beaches, and rocky shores — anchored by the iconic Maine Coast Bracelet. The newest tourmaline discovery, SparHawk Mint Green Teal, has its own gallery. Free shipping, 30-day returns, and reset/remount services available.
