Gastropub in the former Jameson Tavern space on Main Street in Freeport — favorites from the Portland location plus new seafood dishes for Freeport.
King's Head Pub Freeport opened August 16, 2025 on Main Street in Freeport, moving into the historic Jameson Tavern space less than a year after that 250-year-old institution closed. It's the second location for the King's Head, following the original Portland gastropub that opened in June 2014. The Freeport menu carries over favorites from Portland — Scotch eggs, haddock bites, pappardelle Bolognese — alongside new seafood dishes built specifically for the Freep crowd, paired with craft beers, ciders, and cocktails. The setting leans into the building's history (it's where the documents separating Maine from Massachusetts were signed), pairing exposed wood and brick with elevated pub food in a comfortably laid-back room.
