Pharmacist-owned soap and skincare brand from the Brewer area, with plant-based and grass-fed-tallow formulas for sensitive skin.
Maine Farmhouse Brands officially launched in spring 2022, but the story started in 1985, when pharmacist Dan Mickool began formulating soaps for his own family using only ingredients he trusted. With deep concern about petrochemicals and synthetic additives, Dan eventually turned his decades of home formulation into a full brand. Products are handcrafted in small batches with locally sourced ingredients where possible, including tallow from grass-fed cows on small to medium organic farms. The lineup spans plant-based soaps, sensitive-skin moisturizers, hypoallergenic laundry and liquid hand soaps, and Maine-lighthouse-themed bars. Every ingredient and supporting study is published openly. Demos and pop-ups regularly take place at Tiller & Rye in Brewer.
