Maine Made Stuff hand-pours paraffin and soy candles from a home shop in Lexington Township, in the Appalachian Mountains of western Maine. Founded by Deborah Mitchell and now run by her daughter (with a granddaughter handling the Mystic Essence Candle Store social presence), the family business has been operating since 2002. Candles use only top-quality wax, hand-straightened lead-free wicks, and Anchor Hocking glass jars, with each dye and essence hand-weighed on a precise beam scale. The lineup runs from 5-ounce votives to 64-ounce four-wick candles with 150+ hour burn times, plus soy melts. Burn times: clean, even, scented to the last flicker.
