Snows Point Pottery in St George hand-throws stoneware mugs, bowls, pitchers, and pour-overs — each piece signed, with intentional imperfections welcomed.
Snows Point Pottery is a hand-thrown stoneware studio based in St George, Maine. Every piece is made by hand from start to finish and signed or stamped on the base when complete. The studio's aesthetic embraces imperfection: sometimes materials that burn away in the firing process are used intentionally to leave a void or mark, and cracks from the first firing are sometimes glazed over to preserve their character. Each piece has its own character — no two are identical, and the potter says it is impossible to represent exactly what a piece is like through photographs. The catalog includes coffee cups ($25-$45), Burnham Mugs ($45), Grey Crackled Pitchers with Buckled Handles ($55), Black and Grey Pour Overs ($65), Celine and Medium Rust Bowls ($65-$75), and ~12-inch Aerial Plates ($85). Pieces with unintentional flaws are called seconds and sold in person.
