Aomori Kitchen and Market

Aomori Kitchen and Market opened January 14, 2026 at 52 Hanover Street in Portland's West Bayside, in the Armature building. The 12-seat conbini-style market and cafe is the sister establishment to Aomori Restaurant, also from chef Masa Miyake, son Reo Miyake, and Helen Carter. Modeled after Japanese convenience stores, the market stocks soy sauces, Japanese sodas, noodles, rice, Tsugaru Vidro glassware from the Aomori region, housewares, and children's toys. The daily bake-and-prepared menu includes chocolate orange rolls, Galette Bretonne, egg danish with kale and bacon, sausage rolls, okonomiyaki rolls, hazelnut praline chocolate cake, maitake mushroom-onion quiche, plus grab-and-go egg salad and curry chicken sandwiches, onigiri, sushi rolls, karaage skewers, and beef curry handpies. Thu–Mon 8am–5pm.
