Rare Woods USA is an independent specialty supplier based in Lakes & Mountains Maine. The Mexico, Maine warehouse complex — seven buildings on Swift River Road — stocks more than a million board feet of exotic and rare hardwoods across 120+ species, supplying furniture makers, luthiers, turners, carvers, and boatbuilders nationwide. Founded in 2006 by South African Rory Wood as the U.S. extension of his Cape Town company Rare Woods SA (1982), the business is now run by Wood's family alongside local manager Bob Putnam.
