Founded by John Powers, The Gilded Nut Snack Co. was incorporated in Maine in 2013 after starting in California a year earlier. From its 400 Congress Street base in Portland, the company sources jumbo California pistachios that ripen and open naturally on the tree, then tumbles them in first cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil and whole herbs and spices. No preservatives, additives, food colorings, or added sugar. The product is non-GMO, gluten-free, and vegan, and is served at luxury properties like Ritz-Carlton, Montage, and Auberge Resorts. Each pistachio box comes with suggested wine pairings.
